Antarctic scholars Meredith Nash, Hanne E. F. Nielsen, Justine Shaw, Matt King, Mary-Anne Lea, & Narissa Bax have written an interesting open access piece titled “‘Antarctica just has this hero factor. . .’: Gendered barriers to Australian Antarctic research and remote fieldwork” which was published January 2019 in PLoS ONE. It explores the masculine imagery associated with Antarctic leadership and exploration. Check out the article below or through the link embedded above.
